A round already decided, worth knowing before you start an application

This entry exists mainly to save you the trouble of applying to a round that has already been decided. NAWA’s own results page confirms the 2026/27 call closed months ago and a list of selected candidates is already published; there is nothing open here to apply to right now, and no next round has a published date.

Eligibility ties to Poland’s own official aid list, not an arbitrary NAWA choice

Worth keeping in mind for whenever a new call does open: eligibility runs by citizenship, not by where you currently live or study, and the specific list of 36 eligible countries lives inside the call announcement’s own attachments, not on the general programme page. NAWA’s own page describes these as “36 countries covered by Polish Aid,” Poland’s official development assistance programme, rather than a list NAWA compiled independently, and the programme’s stated purpose, “to support the socio-economic development of developing countries,” follows from that same aid framework. It spans Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America rather than being limited to any single region.

Not every Polish university qualifies, only the ones on NAWA’s own list

The eligible universities are narrower than “any institution supervised by the Minister of Science and Higher Education” makes it sound: NAWA’s own call attachments include a specific list of universities that have signed a framework agreement with NAWA for that intake year, republished annually, and only those institutions are eligible under Banach NAWA regardless of a university’s wider ministry oversight. Separate NAWA-published lists also govern which Polish and English language certificates count as proof of proficiency, rather than a single named test and score threshold.

A long-running, stable programme, and a modest travel allowance

This is not a new or experimental scheme: NAWA’s own closed-calls archive runs back to 2018, with a call recorded in every year since, including a supplementary round in 2023, which is worth knowing if you’re weighing this against a newer, less-established programme. Programme queries go to banach@nawa.gov.pl directly. The travel allowance is worth flagging precisely because it’s easy to overstate: PLN 2,500, roughly the equivalent of one month’s stipend, is meant to cover part of the cost of getting to Poland, not the full fare from anywhere in the world.
