# Privacy policy

What we collect, what we do not, and what you can do about it.

**Last updated:** 29 September 2026

This policy covers worldwide-scholarships.com. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than in the usual impenetrable form, because a policy nobody can read protects nobody.

## The short version

This is a static website. We do not ask you to create an account, we never add you to anything without your own action, and we do not sell data to anyone. The one thing you can opt into is a monthly email; nothing else here asks you to type anything. We measure which pages get read, because that is how we decide what to research next, and you can switch the tracking part of that off in one click without losing access to anything.

## What we collect directly

**Your email address, only if you choose to give it.** A form on the site lets you sign up for a monthly email listing what was published that month, with an occasional mention of our paid [application toolkit](https://worldwide-scholarships.com/toolkit/). Signing up requires confirming a link sent to your inbox (double opt-in), so nobody can be added without access to that inbox. We use Kit (kit.com) to send these emails and store the list; Kit's handling of that data is governed by [their own privacy policy](https://kit.com/privacy). Every email includes an unsubscribe link that removes you immediately, and we never use the address for anything beyond that monthly email.

**Nothing else you type.** Outside that one form, there are no accounts and no comment sections on this site. The only other way to send us information is to email us directly, and then we have whatever you chose to write.

**Server and delivery data.** Like every website, ours receives technical information when you load a page: your IP address, browser type, operating system, the page requested, the referring page and the time. This is handled by our hosting and content delivery provider, Cloudflare, and is used to serve the site, protect it from attacks and diagnose faults. Cloudflare may set cookies necessary for security and bot detection. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy.

## Cookies and your choice

We set no advertising or tracking cookies of our own. The scholarship directory keeps your filter selections in the page address you are looking at, not on your device.

Two things can place cookies here. The infrastructure that delivers the site sets cookies necessary for security and bot detection, which cannot be switched off without breaking delivery. Google Analytics sets cookies for measurement, and in future Google AdSense will set cookies for advertising. Those are the ones you control.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, nothing is written to your device for analytics or advertising until you accept. Until then the Google tag runs in a restricted mode that reports an anonymous, cookieless signal that a page was viewed, and no identifier is stored or read. Elsewhere, measurement is on by default and you can turn it off at any time.

Either way the choice is yours to change whenever you like, and declining costs you nothing: every page works identically. [**Open cookie settings**](#cookies). The same link sits in the footer of every page.

## Analytics

We use two measurement tools, for different reasons.

**Cloudflare Web Analytics** tells us which pages are read. It sets no cookies, stores no identifier on your device and does not follow you to other websites, so it runs for everyone and there is nothing to consent to. It is the reason we can still see what is useful even when people decline everything else.

**Google Analytics** gives us more detail: how people arrive, which guides they read together, where they give up. It sets cookies and sends data to Google, which is why it sits behind the choice described above. IP addresses are anonymised. Two property settings that would otherwise feed advertising are switched off: Google signals, which would tie your visit here to a signed-in Google account and follow it across other websites, and ads personalisation, which is disabled in all 307 regions Google offers. So what Analytics records here is not exported to build advertising audiences.

Analytics also records approximate location down to city level, along with details of the device and browser you are using. That is how we know which countries our readers are actually in, and whether the site works on the phones they actually own, which is what tells us where to point the research.

Google keeps this data for 14 months and then deletes it. If you keep visiting, the clock restarts on each visit, so the 14 months runs from when you were last here rather than from when you first arrived.

We look at both to decide what to write next. Neither is used to identify you, and we do not sell data to anyone. Advertising is a separate system with its own cookies and its own settings, described below; the two Analytics settings above do not govern it.

## Advertising

This site may display advertising from third-party networks, including Google AdSense. Where it does, the following applies.

- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting [Google Ads Settings](https://www.google.com/settings/ads).
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at [aboutads.info](https://www.aboutads.info/choices/).
- Third-party advertising vendors have their own privacy policies governing what they collect and how they use it. We do not control those policies.

## Links to other sites

Almost every article here links to the official page of a funding body, because checking the source is the point of this site. Those websites have their own privacy practices and we are not responsible for them. Some outbound links may earn us a commission; that never affects whether a scholarship is listed or how it is described.

## Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over data relating to you, including the right to ask what is held, to request correction or deletion, and to object to certain processing. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these rights come from the GDPR.

We hold almost nothing directly: if you have not subscribed to the monthly email, most such requests will get the answer that we do not have anything about you. If you have subscribed, the only thing on file is your email address, held by Kit on our behalf, and unsubscribing removes it. You are still entitled to ask, and we will answer honestly. Email[hello@worldwide-scholarships.com](mailto:hello@worldwide-scholarships.com).

## Children

This site is aimed at prospective and current university students. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.

## Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to how data is handled will be described rather than quietly substituted.

## Contact

Questions about this policy, or about data relating to you, go to [hello@worldwide-scholarships.com](mailto:hello@worldwide-scholarships.com).

**Note on scope.** This policy describes how this website operates. It is not legal advice, and it does not attempt to cover circumstances that do not apply to a static informational site. If you need a formal assessment of your rights, seek advice from someone qualified in your jurisdiction.
